As I’ve mentioned in the past, using a dog racing system vastly increases your chances of profiting in greyhound races. If you’re already using a system that works, like the Two Trap Greyhound System, then that’s great! However, profitable greyhound betting is not just about blindly following the system. Knowing effective betting strategies is always a nice thing to have, since you would know why the system gives you such recommendations.
Eager to have an idea of what these strategies are? Here are just a few of them.
1. Never bet more than you can lose.
This is a very well-known rule of thumb in any greyhound betting system. However, many punters seem to not want to heed this rule, and before they know it they’re already penniless even before the race is over. To avoid this unpleasant surprise, do what it says: Never bet more money than you can afford to lose.
2. Even-money betting
This is where your profit is equal to the amount you bet. For example, if you bet $20 and you win, your profit is also $20, and in turn you get $40 total. In short, your money is doubled. However, you will not always win, so it’s wise to combine this with another strategy.
3. Fixed-percentage stakes
As the name suggests, you only stake a fixed percentage – say 3% – of your betting bank each time. Let’s suppose you have a bank of $100, and you choose a 3% fixed stake. So if you win the bet on your first race, you get $3 profit, and your money is now $103. At the next race, that’s another 3%, which is $3.09. If you win that again, your bank increases to $106.09. The returns may not be that high, but on the other hand, the risks are low too if ever you go on an unfortunate losing streak.
4. Bet on the favourite
This strategy is quite an obvious one in any dog racing system – just bet on a favoured dog with odds of 1.45 or lower. For every win at those odds, you get 45% profit. You don’t even need to know a lot about the intricacies of the race; just find the dog with the required odds.
5. In-Play Betting
This is a relatively new strategy in any modern dog racing system. Thanks to the internet, anyone is now able to change bets as the race progresses. But this is more risky, since you can never know with 100% certainty what the outcome of a race would be. However, if you’re good at predicting events in the race, in-play betting is an effective way to guarantee profits.
These are just some of the strategies at work behind the dog racing systems you may be following. Now that you have an idea, you now understand why the systems work those ways. Bet wisely, and remember to have fun along the way.
