This strategy requires discipline, it has a set of decisions you must follow, if the first decision rule is true then move on to the next and so on until the last decision. If you make it to the end then you have a bet.

Review all races on all race cards for the day::-

DECISION 1:-

The race has 10 or more runners

  • NO – GO TO NEXT CARD
  • YES – go to DECISION 2

To illustrate:

An example of a suitable race is below:

As you can see, there are a total of 7 runners in the 13:15 at Leopardstown.

DECISION 2:-

Looking at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd favourites in the race; is AT LEAST one of the three has odds in the range of 2/1 (3.0) and 9/2 (5.5)

  • NO – do not bet
  • YES – go to DECISION 3

In the example above there is one qualifying runner; Sire Du Berlais at odds of 3.4 to win.

DECISION 3:-

Looking at the race; is there ONLY ONE runner that has odds that meet the range in DECISION 2?

  • NO – GO TO NEXT CARD
  • YES – go to FINDING THE BEST RACE

In the example above there is one qualifying runner; Sire Du Berlais at odds of 3.4 to win.

GO TO NEXT CARD

Simply repeat the above until you have identified one or more race cards that meet the decisions 1 to 3. You may not be left with any race, no matter just skip the strategy for the day. But you may have one or more for the day. If so see FINDING THE BEST RACE.

FINDING THE BEST RACE

Where you have more than one race on the day that has met the criteria, then you can lay all of the races – provided you have sufficient bank and or it meets your overall strategy for sports trading. Or you can simply select the race where the runner has the lowest probable odds thereby reducing any loss exposure should the horse go on to win the race.

Let’s assume the lowest odds for the lay are in the above race example; the 13:15 at Leopardstown.

By laying 10 points our exposure (liability) is 24 points, but we stand to win the 10 points if Sire Du Berlais doesn’t win the race.

Here’s the result of the race:-

A nice 10 point profit.

Background research for this strategy:

Over a 3 year period 17% of the selected horses have won their respective race. This means that the lay bet has WON 83% of the time

In money terms then had you placed 10 point lay bets at the WORST odds for the system of 5.5 with an 83% win rate and 17% lose rate, you will make a profit of 14 points in every 100 Races. Yet had you placed 10 point lay bets at the BEST odds for the system at 3.0, with an 83% win rate and 17% lose rate, you will make a profit of 490 points for every 100 races. The actual numbers would likely fall somewhere in the middle, so around 250 points per 100 races from a 10 point stake. As you increase your stakes from 10 points to 20, 30 50 or more points, your profits would increase inline.
