Dutching a race allows you to spread the risk and increase the probability of a profit, the downside is the return is lower as you spread your stake over multiple runners in a race. Lower risk and lower profit, but a win’s a win – right?

Qualifying Race:

  • Minimum distance 1 mile 4 furlongs
  • > 10 runners in the race ( this includes non-runners, before the off)
  • At least 2 of the 3 1st, 2nd and 3rd favourites have odds up to 13/2 (6.5)

As you can see in the example above, 10 runners over and it’s 1m7f145y.

And the 1st, 2nd and 3rd favourites all are within the range of 13/2 (6.5).

As you can see in this example, the favourite is at 5/2 (3.5), and the 2nd 3rd favourites are at 4/1 (5.0).

No you need to use a Dutching Calculator such as the one here: https://www.oddschecker.com/betting-tools/dutching-calculator

Now enter the odds for each of the 3 favourites and enter the total stake, we’ll use the example of 10 points.

The result of this race?

The favourite won, so one of our 3 selections has won with a profit of 4.58 points – nice eh!

NB – should only 2 of the 3 selections fall within the criteria you could still dutch bet these  horses but only do this on the favourite, 2nd favourite and 3rd favourite.

Happy Trading.
